Beauty Confessions

It’s been a long week for me down here at the old blog mill…

When you’re the boss of your own pretend job, it’s too easy to make yourself work unusual hours. Crazy, inhumane hours like, 2:30 AM – 6:00 AM, or 4:15 AM – 7:00 AM. Hours when I should be dreaming about doing it with Louis CK (more pleasant than you would think), or fighting with teenaged girls (exactly as horrible as you would think).

Also, I’ve been making some extra money working double time on the seduction line.

Needless to say, I’ve got a case of the Fridays. That’s like a case of the Mondays, except for instead of not wanting to do anything on a Monday, you don’t want to do anything on a Friday. I had a case of the Wednesdays too, but it was less severe.

Annnnyways. It was during one of those early morning blog shifts, when I was thinking about the post I’d read about beauty mistakes we make while we’re first learning how to self style, that I got inspired me to write a post about my own cringeworthy mistakes. But, now, I want to know yours!

I know you guys were out there with crunchy hair and too much eyeliner.

That loose boob is the best thing she has going on here.

Come on! Spill those beauty confessions!

Holy cow where to start!!!!!!! Hmmm, maybe with I used to buy foundation way to dark to make me look more tan while the rest of my body was glowing white!, or like you mentioned cutting the bangs way to short, to much body glitter ,eye shadow, oooo and brown lipstick I used to stick in my back pack and sneak to school!! Good lord I was a mess!! 🙂

Senior year of college, I cut my hair super Rachel Maddow short. People told me it looked cute, but really I looked ridiculous! The worst part was the grow out stage; I looked like a 12 year old boy. Now I know when I want my hair “short” a short bob is the way to go. As for makeup, I didn’t really start wearing it until you and Tisha corned me in Vegas — we were there for James and Carmen’s wedding — and asked if you could do my makeup. That’s when I realized that the makeup I was applying wasn’t doing anything for me as in it looked like I wasn’t wearing any makeup?! So thanks! Seriously, you two were such eye openers for me!

Awww! And your makeup always looks good now! You choose really great lip and eye colors for yourself. xx

  3. Getting “cheap” manicures at random storefronts that only last about 5 minutes, and being too lazy to fix them myself.

Way-too-dark foundation was a big one for me, especially since I’m like one stage lighter than Ivory. I thought I could just match my cheek color and call it a day.

Those cheap manicures are hard to pass up! I just tell myself that I’ll probably get a staph infection and keep walking.

Hmmm I think my jr high- junior years of school I dressed really weird. I don’t think my makeup was ever too bad, but I wore my docs with anything, and sometimes mixed their colors, a red on one foot, green on the other. when i got my 20 eyes and grip fasts, my skirts and dresses just got shorter, and more into the black side.
I once or twice wore checkered tights with a checkered skirt, or a floppy hat that just looked like grass took a shit on my head. Omg! I wore a tiara, and sometimes cat ears. Shoot I can’t believe I went in to study fashion design. I still think I may have some crazy mental fashion quirks but no way like I used to.

I used to wear stuff like that too! That’s not bad, that’s just being a teenager. When I was in my early 20s though, I dyed my hair this terrible brick red color, and then was penciling my eyebrows the same color. AWWWWFUL. That color made my skin look disgusting.

Oh snap ! Crunchy hair, body glitter with little jewels stuck to the corner of my eyes , green eyeliner with blue mascara , dying my hair with koolaid , the under shave although that is coming back and actually looks cute on some peeps , big bangs , that’s all I can think of right now but I’m sure there were more.

1988ish. Mint green anything. Clothes, eyeshadow, fannypack! Yes I said fannypack. In 7th grade, I rocked the mint green and pastel pink socks at the same time!
